Louis Rees-Zammit has claimed the Stowford Press Young Player of the Season award for the second season running.

The flying winger scored 6 tries in his 11 appearances for Gloucester Rugby this season.

His form in Cherry & White saw the Welshman star for his country during the Six Nations, and most recently earn a British & Irish Lions call-up for the summer tour of South Africa. At 20 years and 93 days old, Louis Rees-Zammit became the youngest Lion on the day of selection in a touring party since Ireland's David Hewitt in 1959.

Head Coach George Skivington has been impressed by the youngster’s attitude this season.

“Zam has had another incredible season for us but also on the international stage. It would have been very easy for him to get ahead of himself, but he’s kept his feet on the ground and worked extremely hard all season to keep improving.

“It’s brilliant to have a player of Louis’ ability come via the academy and take the world by storm so quickly. To have our young player of the season going out on a Lions tour this summer is testament to the work Louis has done individually, but also the pathway in which he’s developed in.”
