Gloucester Rugby travel to Franklin's Gardens to face Northampton Saints on Saturday in Round 18 of the Gallagher Premiership. Ahead of the fixture, George Skivington faced the media.

On a good training week

"We had two training days last week. We had plenty of rest time to get on top of things and refresh but there were a few areas that we wanted to nail down so we had two really good training days and we targeted a few bits that we want to push on in our game.

"It’s more the accuracy that we’ve been talking about in the last few weeks. We feel we’ve made some good shifts, particularly in attack. There’s still a couple of little bits that we want to get right that we feel could take us to the next level. We’ve reshaped our defence and set piece and we’re nowhere near the ceiling we feel we can get to so we’ve been pushing the messages we’ve been working on all year. We want to take it to the next level."

On Northampton

"They’re on fire at the moment. They’ve got good momentum and they had a tricky spell earlier in the year and they found their way through it and I think their players are certainly united on what they want to do and their game plan is working well for them. I think the conditions suit what they’re trying to do as well and they’re good to watch. A real tough challenge for us.

"We know there’s going to be a lot of running. The metres per minute are going to be high. They’ve really nailed their set piece and I think that’s really what’s nailed them on actually. I think they’ve been playing some good attacking rugby but their set piece has come on really well in the last few weeks and their defence around the tighter areas has been addressed. I expect a good running game of rugby and I expect it to be hard work."

On Lloyd Evans' return last time out

"Obviously the situation at 10 changed quite early in the season. We found ourselves with one less 10 but I thought Lloyd (Evans) was on a real upward curve and then he picked up that niggle at the beginning of the year which kept him out for 10 weeks which was a shame. To give credit to him, we challenged him with a few bits like watching rugby and understanding bits and pieces of what we wanted to push forward whilst he was injured and I think he stepped back into that game like he hadn’t had those 10 weeks off. I’m really really pleased with Lloyd. He’s diligent, working hard and he’s got a really good future."

Injury update after a week with no game

"It’s given anyone who had a small niggle the opportunity to shake those off and recover. As always, there are a number of players injured but it’s been good for us to work hard but have a good few days rest in between."

On RPA Restart campaign

"It’s massive. It’s obviously been pushed for a little while now and growing in the background but I think it’s massive and guys like Lewis Ludlow and the boys can make a real difference by promoting it."

On Lions announcement

"I hope that there will be as many as possible in there from Gloucester Rugby. Anyone who gets on that tour and represents the club, it would be brilliant. I’ll have my fingers crossed for anyone who is in contention and hope for as many as possible."
