Unbeaten Gloucester-Hartpury welcome current champions Saracens to Kingsholm on Saturday afternoon in the Allianz Premier 15s.

Head Coach, Sean Lynn, says it’s always a big game when Saracens come to town, and that it’s even more special to play them at Kingsholm.

“We’re very excited. It’s a double bubble with the champions coming to town and we’re playing at Kingsholm, which is another reason to make sure we’re up for it.”

Lynn wants to capture a similar atmosphere to the sell-out crowd that watched the Gloucester Rugby men's team last Friday night and calls on the Cherry & Whites fans to come down and get behind the girls.

“I was here on Friday night to watch the men against Harlequins and the atmosphere was brilliant. We had a good crowd here against Sale earlier in the season too so we’re looking to get another good crowd down.”

The head coach issued a rallying call to supporters ahead of Saturday, saying:

“It’s the champions coming down to Kingsholm, Gloucester-Hartpury against Saracens, and it’ll be an outstanding game so come and support the girls.”

Gloucester-Hartpury’s fixture at the Alpas Arena against Wasps last weekend was postponed due to the visitors not being able to meet the front-row requirements.

Lynn was disappointed the girls didn’t get some game time but says they had a good training session in preparation for Saracens instead.

“It was very disappointing, as soon as we found out the news that Wasps couldn’t field a team, we were just concentrating on what we could control.

“We had a very good training session on Saturday looking to build going into this week.”

Life as a Premier 15s coach can be chaotic, but Lynn says the players and staff adapt well to any challenging situations.

“How adaptable you can be is very important. I think as a group of players, coaches, medical team, strength and conditioning, everybody around adapted really well.

“We pulled together some good meetings and a very good session on Saturday.”

Lynn admits he would have liked to get some match sharpness in the girls but is sure his side will be up for the game.

“Are we going to be match ready? We’re not sure, we have had two weeks off. But we are playing against the champions so the girls will be up for it.”

Yesterday morning the RFU announced the final of this season’s Allianz Premier 15s will be staged at Kingsholm.

Lynn thinks that with a proven track record for hosting memorable finals and international games, Kingsholm is a great choice of venue.

The Head Coach says the potential of a Kingsholm final gives the girls an extra bit of motivation to finish the season strongly but knows there’s work to be done to reach the showpiece event.

“It’s amazing news. I came here for the Six Nations game against Wales and when this place is full it’s absolutely rocking. It’s a great facility and rugby ground.

“It gives us a little bit more motivation now to work hard to work towards making that final, but we know that’s a long way away and we’re fully concentrated on a tough test against Saracens this week.”
