Ahead of Saturday's round two Six Nations fixture against Scotland and Wales, the match ball is on its way to Edinburgh as part of Doddie Aid 2023. The fixture sees the sixth instalment of the Doddie Cup at BT Murrayfield, with this year being the first since Doddie sadly passed away last year.

Yesterday, Kingsholm welcomed HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, to hand over the match ball to start the core riders on their journey to Cardiff. Joining them for the first leg were some familiar Cherry & White faces including Mike Tindall, Charlie Sharples, Carl Hogg and Ian Smith.

HRH The Princess Royal also took time to greet Ed Slater alongside Gloucester Rugby CEO, Lance Bradley and Club Captain, Lewis Ludlow during her visit.

This morning, a sea of tartan then joined Rob Wainwright and his team in Cardiff as the 180 riders began their ride from the Welsh capital to Edinburgh in the early hours, continuing the 555-mile journey to BT Murrayfield. Among fellow British & Irish Lions taking part in some or all of the journey are Martin Johnson, Jeremy Davidson, Nigel Redman, Roger Baird and Craig Chalmers. The journey will finish at Murrayfield moments before kick-off with Rob presenting the match ball to Scottish Rugby's patron, HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne.
