Gloucester-Hartpury have bolstered their title-winning squad this season with the exciting edition of former Darlington Mowden Park forward, Trudy Cowan.

Cowan, who was named in the Premier 15s Team of the Season last year, is excited to join the Cherry & Whites.

“It’s great to be here and be involved. The girls have all been really welcoming, so it’s nice to be back at it.

“They’re on the top of their game. All the players and staff are working hard, and it looks like a great programme.

“They have a great ethos down here and it really shows on the pitch and at the training I’ve been at.”

Playing a number of times against Gloucester-Hartpury for her former club, Cowan says she’s looking forward to being on the same side.

“I had the privilege of playing against Gloucester-Hartpury several times. Last season they were on everybody’s radar, but they’ve always been a good outfit.

“They were a great team to play against and it’s been even better to be a part of. It’s exciting to be around such high calibre players.

“I’m definitely glad to be sharing the pitch with some of them this season, there’s so many incredible players in the whole squad and I’m really excited to learn from them and hopefully play my part in keeping the growth going.”

Last week, Head Coach, Sean Lynn, praised Cowan’s leadership and commitment since she’s arrived. Cowan says Lynn has helped her settle in at Gloucester-Hartpury.

“Sean has been amazing. He’s a great guy and has been really supportive of the whole move.

“Moving from the other end of the country has been a big change but I couldn’t have asked for more really, he’s been great.”

The 2023/24 Premier 15s final at Kingsholm brought in a record crowd of just under 10,000, a record for a stand-alone domestic women’s rugby game in England. Cowan is relishing the opportunity to take the field at the iconic stadium.

“It’s a great facility and you can see in the surrounding area how much the Club means, it’s a really exciting place to play.”

Cowan says that Gloucester-Hartpury fans can expect 100% from her every time she pulls on a Cherry & White jersey.

“I just want to be on the pitch and around the girls whilst I’m here and when I get my chance, I’ll give it everything I have and hopefully learn more from the people around me.”
