Gloucester Rugby suffered a 33-26 loss to Leicester Tigers in the first home game of the season but take two losing bonus points from the fixture.
What happened?
Leicester were ahead 18-12 at halftime thanks to tries from George Martin and Ellis Genge and two George Ford penalties.
Early on in the half it looked like they could go on to blow the Cherry and Whites away but Gloucester Rugby, fuelled on by a packed-out Kingsholm, fought back.
After a period of solid, sustained attack, Fraser Balmain got over for the home side and it wasn’t long until Ruan Ackermann also scored for the Cherry and Whites after running a powerful line to go over in the right-hand corner.
But Leicester did enough to stay on top going into the break.
In the second half it was more of the same.
Gloucester Rugby attacked well for periods, but it was Leicester Tigers who seemed to always have the upper hand.
Leicester scored through Harry Potter and Nic Dolly and were able to keep the scoreboard ticking thanks to George Ford's kicking from the tee.
Mark Atkinson provided the Cherry and Whites with hope of a comeback when he got over the line but it was Jack Clements bonus point try with less than 10 minutes to go which really excited the Kingsholm fans as the game was still winnable.
It went to the death. Gloucester Rugby were awarded a penalty with the clock in red but despite getting within inches of the line, were unable to get the score they deserved.
Leicester won the ball back and kicked to touch ending the game.

It’s been a hectic week for Gloucester Rugby’s inside centre. Named in Eddie Jones’ England training squad at the start of the week and now scoring tries at Kingsholm.

Gloucester Rugby are back in Gallagher Premiership action next weekend when they travel to Worcester Warriors on Saturday 2 October.
