11 of U18 squad invited to International Development Camps
Building into the U18 Academy League final a number of the Gloucester Rugby Junior Academy have been invited to attend International Development camps. These development camps are aimed at a slightly larger group before selection for the main training camp where the groups will prepare for the U18 Six Nations competition during April.

Junior Academy Manager Alex Guest praised the hard work of the group to receive recognition;

 “It’s a great development opportunity for these lads. There’s still plenty of work to do before they are confirmed in the final squad but they should be commended for their work so far.”

“Standing out in the Academy League and showing their stuff in a Gloucester Rugby shirt has caught the attention of the international coaching teams.

“Some of these boys have been on the international radar for a while but some have recently been invited due to their performances in the Academy League.”

Academy Manager Richard Whiffin added;

“It has been another really strong year for U18s programme, coming up just short in the Academy League after a really promising campaign, and this aligns to the need for us to get players through the pathway, from our DPP programme, through our Academy, and hopefully one day into the Gloucester Rugby first team.

“We also saw five new senior contracts for some more of our graduates recently, and these boys are looking to follow in their footsteps of pulling on the Cherry and White jersey, and this leaves our Academy programme is rude health all the way through.

“The opportunity for this group of 11 players to represent their countries in the coming weeks is the pinnacle of their rugby careers, and we know they will represent themselves, and the club very well, especially with the games being played around the county as Kingsholm, Hartpury College and up the road at Sixways.

“This is a great opportunity for our young players, and something as a club, we’re delighted to be part of, and to be so well represented is a massive fillip for us.”
