Team news

George Skivington has named an unchanged starting 15 for Friday night’s trip to Ashton Gate with Andrew Davidson's inclusion on the bench being the only change to the 23 as the two West Country sides look to win the Rifles Cup.

The Cherry and Whites return to Premiership action against Bristol Bears having beaten Northampton Saints last Saturday to progress into the quarterfinals of the Challenge Cup.

Returning to the Premiership, Skivington is weary of the threat Bristol will pose.

“We know what a threat Bristol are. They’re a seriously good team regardless of league position or anything like that. We know that they’ve got some seriously threatening individuals who can do amazing things. They’ve got a strong set piece and a good game. All of their games are tight and their last two weekends could have gone either way. They were physical battles and we know that it’s going to be a tough game on Friday.

“We’re fully aware that Friday is a massive challenge for us and we’re excited about it and we’re looking forward to getting there. Obviously it’s a big challenge and it’s a really important game for us.”

Santiago Carreras starts at fullback with Ollie Thorley and Louis Rees-Zammit on the wings. Chris Harris and Mark Atkinson combine in the midfield with Adam Hastings and Charlie Chapman continuing their partnership at half back.

In the forwards, Val Rapava-Ruskin, Santiago Socino and Fraser Balmain make up the front row with Freddie Clarke and Matias Alemanno at lock. Jordy Reid, Ruan Ackermann and captain Lewis Ludlow complete the forward pack.

There is a strong list of replacements with Jack Singleton, Harry Elrington, Jamal Ford-Robinson, Andrew Davidson and Ben Morgan covering the forwards with Ben Meehan, Billy Twelvetrees and Tom Seabrook named as back replacements.
