Maisie Burton
‘Buggy’ grew up playing GAA for her home village of Adare and Hockey in Secondary School and University.
It wasn’t until she was 22 years old, completing a coaching placement at Shannon RFC that she was told they had a women’s team and since her first training session with the Shannon Ladies, she never looked back. Buggy played with Shannon from 2009-2013 and within that time was selected to play for Munster (2012) when they won the Interprovincial Championship.
In 2013, Buggy moved to Australia and took a break from rugby for a year until she settled in Sydney and joined Sydney University Women’s Rugby team for a season. In this season the team also won the 2014/2015 Sydney Women’s Rugby Union Competition.
After the season finished, she decided it was time to continue her studies and came to Hartpury to complete a Masters in Coaching Science and Professional Development. She played with Bristol Ladies rugby from 2015/2016 alongside Bucs Rugby for Hartpury.
Halfway through the 2016/2017 season, she signed for Gloucester-Hartpury in a season which saw the team clinch Championship South West 2.
