Mark Atkinson joined Gloucester Rugby from Bedford Blues ahead of the 2014/15 season. He began as an outside half during his time at both London Wasps and Sale Sharks but during his time with the Blues at Goldington Road, he developed into a hugely exciting centre.
His versatility across the backline, aligned to his size and speed, mean he has been a very welcome addition to Gloucester Rugby's backs division and he is another fine example of the quality of rugby players in the second tier of English club rugby.
Mark made an impressive 23 appearances in his first season in the Cherry and White shirt, scoring four tries and followed that up with strong contributions in the following years at the club, particularly making his mark in the club's European campaigns. He scored six tries in 2017-18 - a season best for him in a Gloucester shirt.
Atkinson passed 100 appearances for the club in 2018-19 and was selected in the Premiership Rugby Team of the Season earning himself a Barbarians call-up to play against England at Twickenham.
