There were plenty of things to do on the day. Youngsters were able to try their hand at various skills activities around the pitch. Members of the Gloucester Rugby Academy patiently held tackle bags whilst young supporters smashed into them and there were also kicking, passing and agility activities.
The South Stand was open for people to take a look behind the scenes including visiting the corporate areas and the dressing rooms as well as view the memorabilia and information which has been put on display as part of the Gloucester Rugby Heritage Project.
Stands manned by club partners and sponsors such as Jewson and Ronnie Rooster proved to be popular on the day whilst the club shop and ticket office did brisk business.
But, the big attraction was of course the playing squad who arrived once training had been completed at Hartpury.
They were stationed at various signing tables located around the stadium but also helped to man the various activities and there were literally thousands of autographs signed and photographs posed for.
Gloucester Rugby's Head of Sales and Marketing, Pete Grzonka, was delighted with the turn out:
"It's great to be back at Kingsholm after we went to the Docks last year but it's fantastic for people to be able to look around the ground and get back into rugby before the start of the season which is only just around the corner."
"Today is really important to us. We have a massive fan base and it's a long summer without rugby for them, in fact for all of us. It's good for them to get down here and soak up the atmosphere."
"We try and provide our fans with opportunities to meet the players throughout the season and days like today are what sport is all about and what sets rugby aside."
Centre Henry Trinder added:
"It's really good to see everybody out and get the kids involved. It's a really good turnout, we get good backing every weekend throughout the season and it's nice to get involved."
"We've stepped things up a level in preseason and set some clear goals and objectives. We know where we want to be and hope to get a few more wins and points than last season."
