Gloucester scored 4 tries in the first half securing the vital bonus point and take a 3 - 34 lead in to the interval. Mark Foster celebrated his signing of a new contract with two well taken tries and there was also a try each for Jake Boer and Marcel Garvey. Ludo Mercier also gave a faultless kicking performance with four conversions and two penalties in the first period
The second half saw Dean Ryan's men score a further 6 tries to out play the French team to score a comprehensive 3 - 74 victory. Toulon struggled to come to terms with the pace and power of the Gloucester men and this was clearly shown in the fifth minute of the second half. A catch and drive by the Gloucester pack resulted in Jake Boer going over again to score. Following a try by Peter Richards, Mike Tindall then went over to score his first try for Gloucester. This was converted by Duncan McRae who had replaced the impressive Mercier.
Gary Powell then got on to the score sheet with McRae again converting. James Forrester went over for the ninth try of the game and for the first time in the game, the conversion was missed. McRae was back on target to convert Pete Richards' second try of the game which proved to be the final score of the match in which 10 tries were scored by an impressive Gloucester side.
