Due to the bad weather over the festive period, the youngsters were unable to have their coaching session on the pitch at Kingsholm. However, the King's School provided a great setting for the 43 Berry Hill juniors to take part in a session which included a visit from 1st XV players Jack Adams and Hadyn Thomas.
The participants also took part in a stadium tour and formed a guard of honour on the pitch as the players ran out onto the pitch.
Berry Hill has a thriving junior section with 90 players signed on for this season. The club have five teams playing junior rugby, ranging from under 8's who play tag, through 11's, 12's 13's and 17's.
The aim of the junior and mini section is to enable young players to enjoy and participate in rugby.
The teams are run by qualified coaches, Gary Gillespie, Neil Cook, Nigel Crocker, Andy Richards, Chris Hughes, Nick Harris (former Captain of the senior 1st team and current Chairman of Berry Hill RFC), Rob Lane, Phil Powles and Craig Morgan.
The club also helps in the local community through the annual junior festival in conjunction with The Great Oaks Hospice, where in addition to some great rugby, money is raised and donated to the Hospice.
Gloucester Rugby is the team that our youngsters aspire to playing for, possibly following in the footsteps of Adey Powles and Lee Osborne, now the Berry Hill first team coaches.
