Doran-Jones moved to Kingsholm from London Welsh this summer and he has made the most of the opportunities that have come his way and been a part of every matchday squad since making his debut as a replacement against Northampton Saints.
The club website caught up with Paul before he took part in his first England training and he admitted that it's all happened very quickly.
"I've enjoyed my game time at Gloucester this season (5 starts and 4 replacement appearances) and I've had the opportunity to show what I can do."
In a game of positional specialists, being able to play both sides of the scrum has made him a valuable part of the Gloucester so far this season.
"I like playing both sides with a preference for tight head but I don't mind moving across. It's a case of being happy to be on the pitch really."
"I enjoyed the midweek game against Australia and it seemed to go well. I don't think I've been out of my depth and I've given a decent account of myself."
By his own admission, Paul joined Gloucester looking to learn from some of the experienced props already at the club and feels that people like Greg Somerville have helped him massively.
"Greg's reputation speaks for itself as the most capped All Black prop. You don't achieve something like that without knowing a thing or two. I've been working with him on a one to one basis with the tight head stuff."
"But we're lucky at Gloucester because there's a wealth of front row experience. I've worked with Nick Wood who is quite similar to myself in terms of stature and technique and also Olivier Azam who is just so strong. It's really helped me and I'm thriving on it."
