Gloucester Rugby today launched its new 2021-22 home shirt!
In just three hours, pre-order figures suggest that this shirt is well on the way to being a fans’ favourite, with a huge amount of supporters rushing to get their hands on the traditional strip.
The Cherry and Whites will sport the new strip for the first time on Saturday 28 August in the pre-season friendly against Ealing Trialfinders at Ealing Sports Ground.
This season’s kit celebrates the heritage of the Club and city with its retro style, featuring the traditional Cherry and White hoops with inspiration also drawn from the Gloucester city crest with the inclusion of the chevrons.
Designed and produced by long-term partners OXEN, part of the Elite Pro Sports Group, the kit commemorates Gloucester Rugby’s commitment to the local area and community links.
Lee Jenkinson, CEO of Elite Pro Sports, said: “This season we wanted to continue to strengthen the link between Gloucester Rugby and the city itself, whilst supporting the Squad of Thousands campaign to highlight how important fans and partners are to the Club.
“We wanted to highlight that in the new kit and with Gloucester Rugby recently announcing the return of its training facilities to Gloucester, it sems like the perfect time to launch a shirt that celebrates both Club and city.”
The new shirt will feature the line ‘Squad of Thousands’ embroidered under the collar, as well as the playing shirt featuring the names of fans who purchased a space as part of the Squad of Thousands campaign.
Lance Bradley, CEO of Gloucester Rugby added: “We are very excited to launch our new home kit; Gloucester Rugby has such an incredible, rich history and we’re delighted to incorporate this within a fresh, new design.
“Everything we’ve done this year has been with the community in mind - whether that’s through offering job opportunities as part of the Kick Start scheme, creating a training facility that will become a shared space for local events, or simply sending messages to some of our longest serving fans. This shirt is the perfect opportunity to take that sentiment into the new season.”
