Ben Morgan signs new contract to extend his stay at Gloucester Rugby
In case, you missed our video launched earlier today - “Ben Morgan’s Grand Tour of Dursley”, you can view the VT below, Ben Morgan revealed some exciting news in that he has committed his long-term future to Gloucester Rugby having signed a new contract.

The England international number eight moved to Kingsholm from the Scarlets in the summer of 2012 and has gone on to become a crucial part of the first team, closing in on 150 competitive appearances.  The news is even more special as Ben grew up in Gloucestershire, has been a Gloucester Rugby fan since he was a young boy and started playing his first rugby within the county.

Morgan has developed into one of the leaders in the Gloucester Rugby squad, captaining the side on several occasions in recent seasons.  He has also arguably played some of his best rugby in Cherry and White in the past couple of seasons, 2018-19 seeing him score seven tries in 27 appearances.

And Director of Rugby David Humphreys feels that there is still a lot more to come

“Ben has been a revelation for us over the past couple of years. He has worked so hard on his fitness and his skills in a bid to contribute as much as he possibly can, and it’s certainly paid off in terms of his performances.

“He has also become a real leader in the group. That’s not just in terms of captaining the side on a matchday, he also helps to drive standards in all areas. We’re delighted that he’ll be staying with Gloucester Rugby.”

Morgan himself admitted that it had been a straightforward decision.

“It’s well documented how I feel about the club. I grew up as a Gloucester Rugby supporter and it was always a dream of mine to play for the club.

“As such, I feel honoured to have worn the Cherry and White for so many seasons and look forward to doing so for several more and helping the club to achieve success on and off the field.

“I’m enjoying my rugby as much as ever and am genuinely enthusiastic about the direction we’re heading in under Johan. I didn’t have to think too long when talks started about a new contract and I’m delighted that it’s all been agreed so quickly.”
