Gloucester Rugby travel to Saracens on Saturday and ahead of the fixture, Charlie Chapman previewed the Gallagher Premiership clash.
“Our performance did show that what we are building here is really good. It was disappointing not to get the win but credit to the boys who are putting in a lot of hard work in training. I feel that the maul went really well and that was a good point for us. It’s always gutting when you don’t get the win when you work really hard for it.
“There’s a lot that we can take from that game and hopefully we can take the into the game this weekend against Saracens.”
On recent results
“It’s good for us to be sitting 4th. We’ve had a tough couple of games and it’s now about seeing how many points we can squeeze out of the next part of the season. It’s perfect for us in terms of mentally switching on and realising that there is a massive opportunity here for us as a club to really try and nail that top four spot going into the end of the season. We’re in a great position to do that and I think this next run of games is going to suit us and there’s opportunity for us.”
On his current form
“It’s going really well. I’m enjoying myself and there is good competition at the minute. There’s good support with Ben Meehan and Stephen Varney and it’s been really good and I’m enjoying it. Training has been tough but good. Alex King and Dom Waldouck have given us that licence to play and as players we’ve taken that and stepped up.”
“It’s a massive challenge. Going away to Saracens is probably the pinnacle in this competition. They are a very good outfit but we back ourselves and we’re going to meet them head on. We’ve been training really hard and away at Saracens, if we can get a big result there then our confidence will be boiling over.
“We’ve got a game plan in place and it’s just about us mentally switching on from when we travel up on Friday and going into to Saturday, sticking to our process and if we trust it, I’m sure we will reap some good rewards.”
