Team News

George Skivington has picked 17 players either in or having graduated from the Gloucester Rugby Academy in the match day 23 as the Cherry and Whites host Exeter for Round 2 of the Premiership Rugby Cup.

Louis Hillman-Cooper, Bryan O’Connor, Arthur Clark, Harry Taylor and Jack Bartlett all make their starting debuts for the club.

There are 12 changes to the starting line-up that beat Bath last time out with Billy Twelvetrees, who keeps his spot, taking over the captaincy from inside centre.

Lloyd Evans shifts to 15 with Alex Morgan and Jake Morris keeping their places on the wing with George Barton and Ben Meehan coming in to line up at halfback. Louis Hillman-Cooper is given his first Gloucester Rugby start at outside centre.

It’s all change in the forwards with Jamal Ford-Robinson, Henry Walker and Bryan O’Connor lining up in the front row.

Arthur Clark and Freddie Thomas start in the second row with Jack Clement, Jack Bartlett and Harry Taylor starting in the backrow.

There’s plenty of exciting talent on the bench with Ollie Adkins, Jack Stanley, Cameron Jordan, Seb Nagle-Taylor, Matt Jones and Jack Reeves all set to make their first appearances of the season.

George Skivington is looking forward to the fixture.

“They lost last week so I expect them to be on it. They came here and beat us last time so they’ll be pretty confident about coming here. The thing with Exeter is that it doesn’t really matter what team they put out. We’ve said this numerous times when we talk about Exeter, they’ve got two or three players in every position who can do the roles and they all seem to fulfil the system and most times they win. It doesn’t really matter who they pick. We know the systems that they run and it’s how we stop it that’s the challenge.

“The boys are excited, and they’ve trained really hard. What team Exeter send isn’t the concern. The focus is on what we can do.”
