Delight in the half term sunshine at Gloucester Rugby Community Rugby Camps.

Delight in the half term sunshine at Gloucester Rugby Community Rugby Camps.
It was another great week of action on the pitches across the county as the Gloucester Rugby Community team delivered their half term rugby camps.

All through the half term week, the Community team delivered rugby camps to junior rugby players of all ages, with the boys and girls testing their skills, and trying new drills and techniques to improve their games.

The week began at the Prince of Wales Stadium in Cheltenham, where the young players took part in teamwork games, ice breakers, drills on passing, handling, decision-making, breakdown and tackle technique as well as numerous touch and contact rugby games.

Over 50 participants attended the start of the camp, and on Wednesday, the Camps moved to Sir Thomas Rich’s for a Girls only camp, led by Community Coach, and England and Gloucester-Hartpury Women scrum half Bianca Blackburn.

Bianca led the girls with introduction to rugby, ice-breakers, teamwork activities as they developed their skills, on decision-making skills, and through conditioned games worked on tackle technique, ball presentation and honed their work in the breakdown.

The week commenced at Sir Thomas Rich’s, as 70 young players took part in the rugby camp, utilising great facilities working on a whole host of skills across the board, headed up by Gloucester Rugby Legend Terry Fanolua.

The star performers each day were handed a signed Gloucester Rugby ball, and were able to ask the testing questions to Ruan Dreyer, Val Rapava Ruskin and Charlie Sharples.
