Ed Slater of Gloucester Rugby appeared before an online independent disciplinary panel last night (6 January 2021).
Slater was cited by independent citing commissioner John Byett following the match between Gloucester Rugby and Sale Sharks on Saturday 2 January 2021 for dangerous play in a ruck or maul, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.20.
Slater accepted the charge and was given a four week suspension by an independent disciplinary panel comprising Gareth Graham (chair) with Martyn Wood and Guy Lovgreen. He is free to play again on 2 February 2021.

The ban will mean that Ed Slater is due to miss the following games:-
Gallagher Premiership: Newcastle Falcons v Gloucester, Saturday 9 January
Champions Cup: Ulster Rugby v Gloucester, Saturday 16 January
Champions Cup: Gloucester v Lyon, Sunday 24 January
Gallagher Premiership: Gloucester v Northampton Saints, Saturday 30 January
If any of the above games are cancelled or rearranged then the player's free to play date will be amended to ensure the sanction remains meaningful.
