Gloucester-Hartpury have strengthened their stocks with the signing of England international Alex Matthews who joins from Worcester Warriors.
The 28-year-old flanker burst onto the international scene in 2011 and was one of the youngest members to lift the Rugby World Cup trophy in 2014.
She has gone on to make 50 appearances for her country, featuring in the sevens side as well where she was voted the RPA Women’s Sevens Player of the Year in 2018.
Matthews is a well know name in the women’s game and Head Coach Sean Lynn is delighted to have her in Cherry and White next season.
“The fact that we are able to attract players of Alex’s talent shows that what we are building here is really special.
“She is an international who has played at the highest level, and she will be a valuable asset to our squad.
“I can’t wait to see her play and help us as we look to build on last season’s performances.”
