Gloucester Rugby host Harlequins on Sunday in the Gallagher Premiership and ahead of the fixture George Skivington looked back on Bath and previewed the upcoming game.
On the West Country derby
“I was really pleased with that result. The boys were very focused in the week and they made a lot of sacrifices to make sure that they were fully prepared for the Boxing Day fixture. It was great that they got the result that they did.”
On overcoming Bath’s second half revival
“I think that was a real telling moment in the game. I think Bath came out fast and furious in the second half and ended up with most of the possession. We couldn’t quite get the ball back and get a foothold in that period. We had to defend a lot and I thought the boys were really resilient. Bath had a couple of line breaks but when they did we got back and defended well.
"I was really pleased that when the boys got the opportunity we took control back and scored in the corner and gave ourselves enough margin to win the game. Games get sticky and I thought we managed that part really well.”
“Quins are going really well. They’re the reigning champions and they were really good against Saints at Twickenham. They are an outstanding attacking team and there are a lot of guys in there with flare and they obviously have a good connection amongst the group. We know what a threat they are and we know how hard we are going to have to work. It should be an exciting fixture.”
On playing in front of a packed out Kingsholm
“There aren’t many more exciting fixtures than the champions coming to town. There’s nowhere more exciting than a packed Kingsholm with the screaming and shouting for the boys. Combining those two together, it should be electric.”
