George Skivington hopes to make fans proud in final home game of the season

Gloucester Rugby host Saracens at Kingsholm in the final regular fixture of the Gallagher Premiership. George Skivington is looking forward to the challenge and hopes to give the Cherry and White fans something to be proud of.

On signing a new contract

“I’m really pleased. I’m very grateful to the club for giving me the contract but also for giving me the shot in the first place. The powers that be have backed me with the decisions that I wanted to make early on and I’m really grateful for that.

“I’ll be working extremely hard to ensure things keep moving forward.”

On improvements and continuing to develop

“There’s loads of our game that we are not satisfied with. There’s lots we can improve on and I think we will do some more reflecting once we get the season over and done with. There’s certainly a long list of stuff we want to be better at going into next year.

On the final game

“We’ve still got a shot and I think we’re in a good place with one game to play. We’re very focused on this game and nothing else. We understand how good Saracens are and we played them a few weeks ago and they were outstanding.

“We’re solely focused on playing hard and approaching this game and the outcome is the outcome but we want to give a good performance at Kingsholm.”

On Saracens

“We expect a very good team to come here on Saturday. They were very good a few weeks ago when they came here and we’ve played them both home and away already so we know each other well.

“Sarries are an extremely well-oiled machine. A very good team with some world class players in there. We know it’ll be extremely tough and we experienced that a couple of weeks ago.

“We’ve just got to prepare the best way we can and get ourselves in the best position to perform at our best. We’ll see how it goes on Saturday.”

On the Gloucester Rugby support

“It’s been brilliant here all year. The supporters have been loud and hopefully we’ve given them something to enjoy and be proud of. We want to continue that on Saturday. It’s brilliant playing here and I’ve got full appreciation of it now after a full season of being here now. I fully expect it and it’s very important to us as a group that we’re a team that everyone is proud of.”
