Gloucester Rugby host Worcester Warriors at Kingsholm on Friday night and ahead of the Premiership fixture George Skivington sat down to preview our M5 derby opponents and look forward to the game.
On Sale Sharks last time out
“Two points was probably a fair outcome. We’d obviously liked to have taken more but I think in the context of the game, we did some things really well and we were a little bit disappointed with some other bits.
“The boys turned up and they were physical and it was a very physical game with two teams going at each other and Sale just had a couple of strong moments and we felt that there were a couple of opportunities that we missed.
“In reflection, two points from Sale isn’t a bad outcome and we’ve taken some good learnings. We had people on the field who hadn’t played a huge amount of rugby so that was brilliant.”
On having a rest week
“This is the run in to the end of the season now. Games are going to come thick and fast and we had an opportunity to refresh last week a little bit and have some good discussions about where we want to push our game on.
“We’ve come in this week, a proper training week, and the boys have got their heads on and we’re very focused on what we need to do.”
On Worcester Warriors
“It's a good derby game to start the run in to the end of the season. Worcester have found some decent form in recent times and they beat Exeter the other week. They certainly look like a very physical and abrasive team at the moment.
“It will make for a good game here on a Friday night.”
On playing at Kingsholm
“We haven’t been here too much recently. We had three out of four away games and then a down week so we are excited to play here and on a Friday night. It is very special. The way the supporters turn up, it’s something that we’re excited about and we’re looking forward to playing here over the coming weeks.”
Tickets for the Worcester game this Friday are still available here.
