George Skivington on "tough" Newcastle Falcons test

Gloucester Rugby host Newcastle Falcons on Saturday at Kingsholm and ahead of the fixture, George Skivington previews the Falcons, reflects on London Irish and talks about the club's international call ups.

On London Irish

"We had a slow start. The first half wasn't what we are about and I think we addressed that at half time and we had a 20 minute period where we got ourselves in the lead. We were disappointed not to see off the game but it was probably a fair result for what happened in the context of the 80 minutes."

On Ben Morgan

"He's been great. Morgs came back in great shape in pre-season. He's really approached this year wanting to get himself back in the starting line up and get himself back out there playing for the club. It's been a good while and he loves this place. He's had a few tries the last few weeks. I think he's enjoying getting his hands on the ball at the back of that maul which has obviously been going well. He's brilliant and he's been working hard every day and he's a real contributor on the field."

On the international call ups

"It's brilliant. We would have hoped for a couple more. We'll see what happens. You never know as there are two more games until we get to the international period and anything can happen. It's great for the lads who got called up, we'll be hoping that they can show that their form is good enough to start for their country when the time comes."

On Newcastle Falcons

"Newcastle are a tough outfit. They started really well last year and I think they've built on that this year and they are better than they were last year. They're playing really good rugby and they're a good team who work really hard and are very physical. They're very competent across the board with some star dust in their as well. They've got quite a few boys in the England squad which speaks volumes for where they are at as a club."

On being back at Kingsholm

"It's brilliant. I'm really excited to be back here this week. At London Irish last week, when we scored those tries and you start hearing those fans chanting, it's amazing how loud they are. I'm looking forward to this place being packed out and have the full volume behind the boys because they absolutely love it. After the game, the first thing they're talking about is how loud it was and what a great buzz it was. We're looking forward to seeing everybody."
