Gloucester-Hartpury were faced with an energised and experienced Wasps side today. Within the first couple of minutes Wilson-Hardy breaks through our defence and Wasps forwards took a quick pick and go getting the first points of the game. Conversion was good from Jones. Gloucester-Hartpury used the conditions to their advantage using their boot on ball to compete for territory and putting in a great fight. Wasps were shut down in a second try attempt with a try saving tackle from Kelly Smith. An infringement from Wasps just in front of our sticks, meant Lleucu George was able to add our first points of the game.
Later in the game, Wasps blocked a kick and capitalised off a loose ball getting Abby Dow over the try line. Gloucester-Hartpury didn’t let this stop them, using their forward pack to find momentum off a driving maul. The ball was played out to the back but found in the hands of Georgia Brock who crashed over the try line. Conversion was good from George.
Wasps came out of the changing rooms firing and within minutes found Kildunne running over the white wash, Jones with the conversion. The second half momentum was stalled by a heavy penalty count. As replacements start to roll off the bench, energy and fire was bought back into the squad. Bianca Blackburn finished the game off with a well-deserved try, using her fast feet and agility to dive over the try line. Conversion from George was good.
We look forward to a well-deserved Christmas break but are ready for what the 2021 season will bring us!
