Gloucester-Hartpury Women name side to take on Richmond Women
It’s round 16 of the Tyrrells Premier 15s, and Gloucester-Hartpury Women travel to take on Richmond Women on Sunday looking for a positive result to keep their end of season play-off hopes alive.

With just three rounds remaining, every result is significant and Gloucester-Hartpury want to keep in touch with Wasps Ladies who they entertain at Kingsholm in round 17.

Head Coach Susie Appleby is unable to call upon England squad members Zoe Aldcroft, Natasha Hunt or Kelly Smith but Tatyana Heard is available and there’s a welcome return for second row Courtney Gill after injury.

Having pushed league leaders Saracens so hard last week, Appleby knows that more of the same will be required at Richmond.

“We were pleased with our efforts last week but disappointed not to get the win. We lacked accuracy in certain parts of the field, particularly the red zone and you don’t get many opportunities against a quality side like Saracens.

“It will be more of the same again this week, in particular we will be tested by the Richmond forwards who are big and powerful, and always galvanised by EPS player Rowena Burnfield.

“We welcome back Courtney Gill after a long period on the touchline; Courtney brings a wealth of experience to our young pack and she’s really excited to get back out there.

“In the backs, Bethany Randall gets her first start in a Gloucester-Hartpury shirt. She has big shoes to fill in the absence of Kelly Smith, but Beth has been outstanding for the development side with her pace and her power and she certainly knows her way to the try line.

"Caitlyn Simpson has also been excelling for the development team and deserves her inclusion in the squad this week; Caitlyn is a converted centre so she brings power but also creativity with her handling skills and we are really excited to see what she can bring.

“Richmond are really tough opponents, whose position in the league belies their ability as a side. We need to be accurate and patient in our execution if we are to stay on track for a playoff place at the end of the regular season.”
