The 2020/21 Round 3 Allianz Premier 15s match between Sale Sharks Women and Gloucester-Hartpury Women has been postponed.
The RFU has made the decision to postpone the fixture originally due to take place this weekend, after seven Sale players tested positive for COVID-19 [community acquired] and in addition, 12 players are also isolating due to positive cases in the community.
This decision has been made after consultation between Sale Sharks Women and the RFU using the detailed medical protocols in place to ensure that the health and wellbeing of all players and support staff is protected.
The Disputes Committee will meet early next week to determine next steps.
RFU Head of Women’s performance, Nicky Ponsford said: “A number of Sale’s players work away from the club within the north West and after several positive test results along with other players isolating, the club do not feel confident they can field a side this weekend.
“Sale have been very diligent in their approach and communicated with us throughout.
“We would like to thank both clubs for their co-operation and support in this matter.”
