Gloucester Rugby Academy staff working at England U17s training weekend

Gloucester Rugby Academy staff working at England U17s training weekend
Three members of the Gloucester Rugby Academy coaching staff, in addition to two players, will be involved in an England U17s training camp in Bristol this weekend.

Junior Academy Manager Alex Guest, Jordan Murton (Strength & Conditioning) and Luke Croughton (Sports Therapist) will be on duty as England U17s stage a North vs South session. The players selected are Morgan Adderley Jones and Will Cusack who both study at Hartpury.

Alex explained how the weekend is going to work.

“Jordan is going to lead the S&C for the South and Luke is going to be physio for the South but, just to confuse matters, I’m going to be coaching the North!

“It’s going to be really interesting and, in terms of staff development, it’s good for all of us to be working with a different set of players than the ones we see every week although the two Gloucester Rugby players are in the north squad so I’m still working with them!

“Friday is a meet and greet day and we have a few meetings based on attack and defence, and Saturday will be a full training day with some more meetings. Then on Sunday, we’ll have a conditioned game, 15 on 15, North vs South.

“In a month’s time, the best 35 players from the weekend will re-assemble and do exactly the same thing against Scotland. As staff, we’re not sure yet if we’ll be involved in that one as we’re currently guests being mentored by the England staff.

“It’s a great experience and nice to be put forward and nominated for it. It reflects well on the work we’re doing at the club.”
