Gloucester Rugby and Sports & Wellbeing Analytics announce partnership

We are delighted to announce that Sports & Wellbeing Analytics, industry leading experts in technology for injury prevention, have joined us as a Gloucester Rugby partner.

Sports & Wellbeing Analytics aims to support the future of rugby by helping to provide greater insight into head impacts using cutting edge technology.

Working closely with long-standing Gloucester Rugby partner OPRO, the welsh-based company provides the PROTECHT solution. This state-of-the-art sensor technology, accurately identifies and reports all head impacts received by players in training or competitive matches.

As a club who pride themselves on player welfare, the PROTECHT system provides the Gloucester Rugby management team with a source of data that can help to bring the players up to match intensity safely.

As one of the pioneers in the Premiership to use the technology, earlier this year Gloucester Rugby welcomed in the One Show to a training session to see the innovative and forward-thinking approach in action. Watch the feature here.

Gloucester Rugby’s Head of Medical, Eoin Power said;

“We’re delighted to have Sports & Wellbeing Analytics sign as a partner.

Since working with them, we have been able to modify and adapt a player's contact load in training to better prepare them for games.

Player safety is paramount, and the PROTECHT technology is invaluable to the medical team here at Gloucester Rugby.

We are looking forward to working closely together both on and off the field.”

Alan Williams, Commercial Director at Sports & Wellbeing Analytics, is looking forward to seeing what the future of the partnership will hold.

“We’re really excited to be working with Gloucester Rugby and look forward to working with an elite professional rugby club where we can continue our research at the highest level.”
