Gloucester Rugby Developing Player Programme (DPP) 2018-19

Gloucester Rugby Developing Player Programme (DPP) 2018-19
Gloucester Rugby Academy will be kicking off the 2018-19 Developing Player Programme in October.

The successful development programme aimed at given stand out players added support with their rugby development will commence next month. The programme which is run in conjunction with the Gloucestershire RFU and Oxfordshire RFU has gone from strength to strength over the past four seasons.

The DPP is a developmentally focussed programme that sits alongside a player’s Club and School programme. The aim is to support talented young players with their rugby and athletic development.

Clubs and Schools have the opportunity to nominate players for the programme via an online electronic form which will is sent out to all Clubs and Schools in advance of the programme. Once nominations have been collected, an additional information form will then be sent to the players to be completed prior to their first session.

At U13 level Clubs and Schools are able to nominate two players, one stand out forward and one stand out back. These players will roll over to the following year, at U14s clubs and schools have the opportunity to renew their nominations, plus add a third.

At this age group there is a compulsory DPP Induction evening where the player, the parent and the nominating coach must attend to ensure understanding of the programme aims and objectives. Nominations to the U14 can be altered after attending this induction.

The DPP runs out of 5 development centres across our catchment area of North Gloucester and West Oxfordshire to provide easily accessible venues for players.

Within each centre we have a number of coaches all of whom are qualified to either Level 2 or Level 3 standard and currently work as Club or School coaches.  Working alongside our DPP Coaching team is our DPP Strength & Conditioning coaching team made up of Bachelors and Masters graduates.
