Gloucester Rugby make five changes for trip to Leicester Tigers
Gloucester Rugby continue their Gallagher Premiership campaign away at Leicester Tigers on Saturday and make five changes to their starting line-up, four in the pack and one in the backs. Ed Slater will skipper the side against his former club.

In the front row, Josh Hohneck and Fraser Balmain will make their first starts of the season. Likewise, Jake Polledri and Ben Morgan, replacements in last week’s win over Wasps, both start their first games of the season in the back row.

There is just the one change in the backs, with Matt Banahan starting on the right wing with Tom Marshall moving to full-back.

The Cherry and Whites have won their first two matches of the season, and will be seeking to win their first three matches for the first time since 2007-8. However, they will come up against a Tigers side determined to get their season up and running.

Head Coach Johan Ackermann is taking nothing for granted despite the team's respective positions in the league table.

“I’m very happy and very pleased and very grateful that it’s started so well. But it’s early days and every team will get better as the season progresses as they find their feet.

“The reality is, and I’ve said it many times, is that there’s no easy side in this competition and the biggest mistake we could make is to underestimate Leicester by how they’ve started the season.

“They were in the contest all the way against Saracens, there was not that much in it. They’re a tough side, they’ve got a great set-piece, good scrum, good maul, good pack of forwards.

“We haven’t won there for a long time which shows you what a tough place it is. But we are building a new legacy and want to change things around.

“So, we’ll go there with a positive mindset and play to our level. As long as we do our bits we can live with the result but, if we want to win, we have to play decent rugby.”
