Kingsholm Stadium staged matchday day three of the U18 Six Nations Festival on Sunday, and there were plenty of Gloucester Rugby representatives across the teams.
There were three games on the day, starting off with an entertaining game between Scotland and Ireland. Scotland took the spoils by 42 points to 40 in a match refereed by former Gloucester Rugby favourite Nick Wood.
There were plenty of young Cherry and Whites in the England team that took on France in the second game of the day. Archie Benson, Jack Clement and Josh Gray all started in the pack, while Harry Fry was named amongst the replacements.
It proved to be a frustrating afternoon for England, who never really got going although they showed great resolve to remain in touch until the final few minutes. However, France pounced for some late scores to secure a 40-19 triumph.
There was also plenty of interest for the local fans in the final game of the day as Italy took on Wales. Louis Rees-Zammit and Tommy Matthews wore the red of Wales while Stephen Varney was named in the Azzuri squad.
And it was Varney who enjoyed the occasion, scoring two tries as his team won 34-13. Rees-Zammit showed flashes of the form that earned him a first team bow recently, setting up a try for Ioan Evans, but Wales were second best on the day.
