Team News

George Skivington has named his side for Saturday’s West Country derby against Bath.

There are five changes to the starting line-up that narrowly lost to Bristol last time out in the Premiership with Harry Elrington, Jack Singleton, Kirill Gotovtsev and Ben Morgan coming into the starting line-up and Ruan Ackermann switching positions to blindside flanker.

The back line is unchanged with Santiago Carreras starting at fullback with Louis Rees-Zammit and Ollie Thorley on the wings. Mark Atkinson and Chris Harris partner in the midfield with Adam Hastings and Charlie Chapman at halfback.

In the forwards, Harry Elrington, Jack Singleton and Kirill Gotovtsev come in to make up a brand-new front row with Freddie Clarke and Matias Alemanno continuing their partnership in the second row. Ben Morgan makes his first Premiership start since we hosted Bristol in December with Ruan Ackermann and captain Lewis Ludlow the two flankers.

There is a strong list of replacements with Santiago Socino, Jamal Ford-Robinson, Fraser Balmain, Andrew Davidson and Jordy Reid covering the forwards and Ben Meehan, Billy Twelvetrees and Tom Seabrook covering the backs.

Both Charlie Chapman and Tom Seabrook are set to make their 50th appearances for Gloucester Rugby.

George Skivington is looking forward to the West Country.

"Bath were dominant in their last game for a big period. They’ve got a quality squad and some great players in that team. They’ve got players who can do some very special things and we’ve seen that every time we’ve played them.

“From that point of view, it’s going to be a really hard derby game. It’s going to be tough and it’s going to be fast and furious. We’ve just got to focus on our game and I think we’ve got to get the fundamentals right. We’ve done that for most of the season. Hopefully we push our game through and work hard and see where it takes us."
