Gloucester Rugby team up with GlowStars to combine enjoyment and health in rugby
GlowStars is a new initiative designed to give rugby a new dimension by playing the game under ultra violet lighting which enables the fluorescent colours to glow and allow the participants to stand out in the dark.

This new exciting project will help Gloucester Rugby’s Community Charity to bring enjoyment to all players who take part in GlowStars Rugby.

The equipment can be used to inspire those who are inactive, to get active by taking part in GlowStars sessions. One in five people in Gloucestershire is inactive, and a third don’t move enough to benefit their health. Statistics show 22.7% of people in Gloucestershire are inactive and this is a number we are looking to reduce using the GlowStars project

We can also use the equipment to engage girls into rugby at all ages as some may feel self-conscious about themselves when playing sport. By age 14, many girls are dropping out of sports at twice the rate of boys. We hope that the GlowStars project will contribute towards more girls staying involved in sport and take up rugby.

The Adrian Davies Lodge of Rugby Union said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be involved with this worthy project which fits so well with the Lodge’s aspirations to support youngsters, whether able or disabled, who want to participate in Rugby.

Since the Lodge was consecrated back in 2013 we have raised a considerable amount of money to help promote mini and junior Rugby across the County and the opportunity to become involved with Gloucester Rugby and all at the Charity is a perfect way to further evolve the Lodge and broaden its name.”

Helen Chu, Community and Charity Manager at the Club added:

“We are immensely grateful to the Freemasons of The Adrian Davies Lodge of Rugby Union and thank them for them for their generosity in helping us set up the GlowStars Project. We look forward to further establishing our relationship with them and seeing the impact of the GlowStars project has on the community.”
