Gloucester Rugby to play Bath Rugby in friendly this afternoon

A Gloucester Rugby squad will travel to The Rec this afternoon to take on Bath Rugby in a friendly fixture.

The fixture has been planned to provide game time for the club’s young players and the wider group, during a time where the number of opportunities has been reduced due to the impact of Covid.

The side will be captained by experienced Australian lock, Ollie Adkins who is joined 6 academy forwards in the pack as well as academy graduate Ciaran Knight who starts at tighthead.

In the backline, Stephen Varney partners the returning Lloyd Evans in the half-backs. Ollie Thorley returns from his suspension on the wing, with Georgian centre Giorgi Kveseladze also back in Cherry & White following his spell away on international duty.

21 of the 24 players involved in the friendly clash are either in the academy currently or have graduated from the academy into the first team, and will be looking for to some valuable playing time.

There will not be live coverage of this game via the Gloucester Rugby channels, however John Evely will be reporting on the game for Gloucestershire Live.
