Gloucester Rugby win a 2019 DBA Design Effectiveness Award
We are delighted to announce that Gloucester Rugby in collaboration with design agency, Brond has won a Silver Design Business Association Design Effectiveness Award in recognition of the Gloucester Rugby rebrand that took place in 2018.

The Awards, which are internationally recognised and voted for by a prestigious panel of judges by leading figures from businesses including Adidas, Coca-Cola, Harrods, Shell and Visa are awarded to those who have demonstrated the value of investing in design to drive business success and chosen for their understanding of how design can, and does, create change.

Commenting on the award, Gloucester Rugby CEO, Stephen Vaughan said:

“We are honoured that Gloucester Rugby has won a 2019 DBA Design Effectiveness Award.  The re-brand has provided us with the platform we needed to ensure the club is represented in the right way in future. Being recognised by our peers across various other leading industries is extremely gratifying and gives us further confidence that the time, effort and consideration that went in to it was worth it.”

“We needed to strike a balance between respecting our rich heritage and being progressive enough to engage a new and younger audience and I am delighted at what we achieved and the impact it has had both internally and externally for the Club.”

Attending the awards dinner on Wednesday 12 June, at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London and collecting the award for the Club, Helen Roe, Head of Marketing and Communications for Gloucester Rugby said:

“It is a privilege to collect a 2019 DBA Design Effectiveness award on behalf of Gloucester Rugby alongside Dan Grzonka from Brond, the design agency behind our rebrand.  Brond worked so hard and we can’t thank them enough for their commitment and dedication on the rebrand.

“I would also like to personally thank the team behind the scenes at Gloucester Rugby who worked tirelessly with me on this project.  We are really proud of what we achieved for the club and it positions us really well to deliver against our aspirational future plans.”

Dan Grzonka, Partner of Brond Brand Design said:

“The DBA Design Effectiveness Awards are the only award scheme that uses commercial data as the key judging criteria. The project started with an in-depth brand review including interviews with the Gloucester Rugby board, employees and players.  Thereafter, we defined new brand values, positioning, identity and guidelines for consistent application to all future Gloucester Rugby communications.

We are honoured to receive such a prestigious award with Gloucester Rugby.  It has been a pleasure to work in close collaboration with Gloucester Rugby on this sensitive branding project. The drive and teamwork between Gloucester Rugby and Brond was crucial to successfully delivering the results of this complex project.”
