Head of Academy Richard Whiffin leaves club to take up role at Scarlets Rugby
Gloucester Rugby can confirm that Head of Academy Richard Whiffin will leave the club this summer to take up the role of Assistant Attack Coach at Scarlets Rugby in the Guinness Pro 14.

Whiffin will take up the role in West Wales after continuing the fine development of the club’s Academy into one of the most successful in England.

Whiffin joined the club in the summer of 2016 as Academy Backs Coach, before taking up the role of Head of Academy a year later, and recently combined his role in his coaching development with England U20s, and will be part of the coaching staff in Argentina for the World Rugby U20 Championships.

With another group of young players graduating into the senior squad for the 2019-20 campaign, Whiffin leaves the club with the Academy in rude health, built off the back of a number of successful U18 League seasons, as well as more and more young players representing the first team in the past weeks.

Whiffin commented on his next move;

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Gloucester Rugby and being part of developing some fantastic talent that will fill the Cherry and White shirt for years to come.

"The Academy is in fine health and will continue to grow and develop the best local talent. I would like to thank David Humphreys, the staff and all players at Gloucester for the experiences and opportunities afforded to me. I wish the club well in the future”
