Gloucester Rugby’s internationals were all on the winning sides in their fixtures over the weekend as the British and Irish Lions secured the 49-3 victory over the Stormers and Argentina defeated Wales 33-11 at the Principality Stadium.
British and Irish Lions
Louis Rees-Zammit came on off the bench to score his third British and Irish Lions try as the Lions defeated the Stormers in their final warm up fixture ahead of the three tests against the reigning world champions, South Africa.
Chris Harris also impressed with a super sub performance and came into the midfield after 60 minutes in his final audition for a test jersey.
The Lions scored seven tries in what was a dominant display over the South African side and will be looking forward to the first test this Saturday at 17:00.
After drawing to Wales 20-20 last weekend, Argentina secured the 33-11 result over Wales in the return fixture and Santiago Carreras and Matias Alemanno were both in good form for their nation.
Playing in the blistering heat, Carreras started at fullback and impressed in attack with his Gloucester Rugby teammate, Alemanno, putting in a physical shift off the bench.
The result concludes Argentina’s summer tour and the two Cherry and White players will enjoy a bit of time off before linking up with the Gloucester Rugby squad for pre-season.
