Gloucester Rugby host Exeter Chiefs this evening in Round 7 of the Gallagher Premiership. Ahead of the fixture we caught up with Jack Singleton who previewed the game.
On the open training session
“It was awesome to see the fans out there. It’s obviously half term so it was nice to have them in for the session today."
On the short turnaround
“It’s a short turnaround from the Newcastle game. It’s more about getting our bodies right after a tough game against Newcastle and mentally preparing for what’s coming on Friday."
On Newcastle Falcons
“It was a good game, we started it well and we were really disciplined in the first half which allowed us to get a lead. We slipped off a little bit after half time but the boys managed to dig in and hold on for the win.”
On the success of the maul
“It’s been going well because Skivs drives it and the players drive it from Skivs. We’ve put a lot of hard work into it. I don’t have too much say in what we do, I just throw the ball in and let the boys in front of me push! It’s going to be another challenge against another strong mauling side in Exeter this weekend.”
On Exeter Chiefs
“Whenever you play Exeter you know what you are going to get. It’s always going to be a tough game with a long ball in play time. They try and wear you down. They’re a top team and I’m looking forward to the challenge.
“We haven’t had as much time to train in the week. We’ve looked at the footage of them and they’re not a side that’s massively changed. They do what they do. They try and break you down and get into your 22 and then maul or pick and go. We know what to expect and it’s just about making sure we’re mentally at it.”
On playing under the Friday night lights
"It’s going to be great. We’ve got a week off off the back of this with no game next weekend so it would be really good to go out with a big crowd and hopefully get the win.”
Tickets for Exeter Chiefs are still available here.
