Gloucester Rugby travel down to Sandy Park on Saturday to play Exeter Chiefs in the Gallagher Premiership. Ahead of the fixture, Kyle Moyle previewed the game and reflected on our London Irish win.
On London Irish
“It was a great result for us as a team. We knew that it was going to be a massive challenge. It was two of the inform teams and we knew that it was going to be a real close game.
“It was a tough start. We were under the pump pretty early on and the boys fronted up physically. Our discipline kind of kept us in our 22 but the boys dug deep, and we defended well. What came from that was a try for us which really turned the momentum and kept us going then for the 80 minutes.
“It was an important win which has helped us climb the table and we’re in a really good position.”
On winning ugly
“I think that shows how far we’ve come as a team. Last season we were losing games within seven points and this year it’s been such a turn around. The times where we’re not performing and playing well we’re still managing to clinch those wins and that was an example of that last weekend.
“We weren’t at our best but at times we did show brilliance and we did enough to get a good win.”
On Exeter Chiefs
“It’s going to be a real tough game. Exeter have been a top side in the Premiership now for six or seven seasons so you know it’s going to be tough going down to Sandy Park.
“We’re mentally ready for that and we know what we’ve got to do. It’ll be an 80-minute battle again so we’re going to have to front up and work hard for each other, which we do, we’re a team that works very hard for each other every week.
“We’re enjoying the preparation and we’re looking forward to it.”
Last game before a bye week
“It would be nice to finish off this block with a win. We are in form at the moment and we want to just keep riding that wave and hopefully we can go down to Exeter and get the win.”
