Gloucester Rugby host Worcester Warriors at Kingsholm Stadium on Friday night and ahead of the game, club captain Lewis Ludlow sat down to preview the fixture.
On Worcester Warriors
“We’ve not had a home game in a while. The boys love playing in those Friday night games. It’s always fun. The crowd is always buzzing and the place around here is always buzzing. It’s a nice day leading up to it and they are one of our local rivals.
“They’ve beaten Exeter in the last few weeks and they’ve had some really good performances and they’ve got a good set of coaches there and a good set of players.
“Every team in this league is really hard to beat. We’re taking nothing for granted and we know that we’ve got to be at our best this Friday night.”
On having a rest week
“We’ve labelled this block as a big block for us. The last block was a hard and tough block as well so to have that week off was nice. A bit of rest to get the body going again and then fly into this week.”
On Friday nights at Kingsholm
“It’s really special. From the minute we walk out and warm up, to the lap just before we go in, and then running out. Everything is best on a Friday night. You get a win on a Friday night, you have a good weekend, the whole city has a good weekend, and you go into the next week happy.”
On Dave Sims
“He definitely will go down as a legend. The stories that I’ve been told and the people I’ve spoken to who played with him, the way he led the team and the way he brought the team back to the city. It was obviously a tough era to lead the team through from amateur to professional. He’s an absolute legend of the club and hopefully we can do him proud on Friday night and get a win for him.”
