Cherry and White supporter Evie Richards has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics this summer in the Mountain Bike Cross-Country event.
The double U23 cycle cross champion and 2018 Commonwealth games silver medal winner will compete in Japan on Tuesday 27 July in a race that tests the bravery and fitness of the athletes who take part.
The event takes riders between 90–105 minutes to complete and consists of multiple laps of a 4.1 km narrow dirt trail with steep ascents, descents and rocky sections. The race features a mass start and the first rider to complete the required number of laps wins gold.
Evie Richards grew up supporting Gloucester Rugby and would go to Kingsholm with her family as often as possible. A big fan of the Cherry and Whites, she keeps up to date with everything to do with the club whilst she is on her travels competing around the world.
As a youngster, Evie played every sport she could from rugby at Malvern Rugby Club to hockey, triathlons and rounders at The Chase School which she attended.
With two upcoming World Cup races in France early in July before heading over to Japan, Evie has a busy summer ahead of her. Everyone at Gloucester Rugby wishes her luck and we can’t wait to see her compete at the Olympics.
