Match Preview – Gloucester Rugby v Wasps

Match Preview – Gloucester Rugby v Wasps
The Cherry and Whites are back on home soil this weekend, as the crucial Gallagher Premiership clashes come thick and fast with Wasps the visitors on Saturday afternoon in Round 17 (KO 3pm)

After three wins from the last four games, the Cherry and Whites recovered from a tough spell at the turn of the year, and face a tough task against a dangerous Wasps side.

Here are some players to keep an eye on this weekend.

Willi Heinz

The Gloucester Rugby captain has been in fine form for the hosts this weekend, and will look to provide the link-up between the hard-working forward pack with the dangerous backline. Gloucester Rugby will target a clinical performance this weekend as they prepare to take on a Wasps’ side that will need no second invitation to punish any mistakes or seize any opportunity.

Marcus Watson

The fleet footed winger scored a brace in Wasps’ last away trip in the Gallagher Premiership at Leicester Tigers, including a stunning solo effort. The former Sevens’ star is a danger to defences and can create a break from nothing, and in attack he is definitely someone to keep an eye on.

Last Time Out

Harlequins 7-29 Gloucester Rugby

Wasps 19-20 Newcastle Falcons

Match Facts

Gloucester Rugby’s only defeat in the last four rounds of Gallagher Premiership Rugby was away at Bristol in 1 March. The Cherry & Whites have lost just once at Kingsholm in Premiership Rugby since September: 15-30 to Sale Sharks in round 11.

Wasps only victory in their last seven first team matches was 29-22 at Bristol in round 13 of Gallagher Premiership Rugby. This is their only away victory in any competition since the end of September.

Gloucester beat Wasps 35-21 at the Ricoh Arena in round 6 but have not achieved a Premiership Rugby double over them since 2010/11. Wasps most recent victory at Kingsholm was in December 2014.
