Gloucester Rugby is delighted to announce that Rob Nixon has signed his first Academy contract with the Cherry and Whites.
Having excelled in the U18 campaign this season, the No.8, who originally played for Monmouth RFC, is ready to continue his development and enhance the skills he picked up as captain of the side.
Nixon said: “I’m really excited and I never thought that this would actually happen! I’ve been involved with the Academy since U13s and back then there were 200 of us there and we were told that only three to five of us would actually make it. I always thought that I didn’t have a shot but now that it’s happened I’m just ecstatic!
“I’ve supported Gloucester Rugby my whole life, and so has my dad, so to sign with the club is a huge honour.
“I’ve wanted this my whole life. At primary school, in my leavers book I said that I wanted to be a rugby player when I’m older and now it’s come true. It’s unbelievable really!”
