Santiago Socino looks forward to Northampton Saints

Gloucester Rugby host Northampton Saints at Kingsholm on Saturday and ahead of the fixture, Santiago Socino looked ahead to the game.

On Charlie Sharples’ retirement

“It was a sad day finding out a few weeks ago. He was a massive part of the squad and when I first joined, I realised how big of a character he was. His career is full of achievements and he’s done it all here so I think he can be proud of what he’s done.

“He’s done it on his terms so I’m happy for him and wish him the best for what lays ahead.”

On Leicester loss

“It was disappointing. With the week off before, we had two weeks of preparation for the game and we knew what we were going to face and we stuck to the plan for quite a bit.

“I think in the second half we were a bit slow and it went against us and it was tough to contain their team. They sit top of the league for a reason. We need to regroup and learn from it and use it as motivation.

“The next two games are massive for us and I think we are going to do our best to stay on it.”

On Northampton Saints

“We’ve looked at their previous few games and they have an expansive game plan. They like to run it from everywhere and they love an offload and they’ve got a few good runners.

“We need to be aware. We pride ourselves on our defence and it’s something that we need to keep up for 80 minutes. I think that if we manage to do so we will get a good result.”

On returning to Kingsholm

“With the week off it’s been nearly a month since we’ve played at Kingsholm and the whole squad is really excited and really looking forward to Saturday. Hopefully it will be a good day back at Kingsholm and hopefully we will be happy with the end result.”
