Seb Blake, Harry Taylor & Freddie Thomas re-sign with Gloucester Rugby’s Academy

Gloucester Rugby is pleased to announce that Seb Blake, Harry Taylor and Freddie Thomas have signed on with the Gloucester Rugby Academy.

Having come up through the pathway together, a key focus of the Academy is to keep a core group of players together and to have these three promising forwards pledge their future to Gloucester Rugby is a great boost for the Club.

Seb Blake joined the Senior Academy having been a stand-out performer during age-grade rugby and the dynamic hooker excelled when playing for Cheltenham College’s XV.

Harry Taylor co-captained the Gloucester Rugby U18 side and his commitment to his development is complimented by his physical attributes, putting him in good stead to become an excellent all-round backrower.

Freddie Thomas has taken every opportunity that has come his way so far this year and has made seven first team appearances so far this season. He is a physical presence and as a former Dean Close School pupil, knows the significance of playing in Cherry and White.

Peter Walton, Head of Academy, is delighted that these three have signed on.

“It’s great that these three talented rugby players have re-signed with Gloucester Rugby.

“They are all players who have been playing together from a young age and they are all local lads who dreamt of playing at Kingsholm.

“Seb Blake is a hugely exciting prospect and has all the makings of a modern hooker.

“Harry Taylor and Freddie Thomas have taken their opportunities well and I know that they will all continue to push each other as they continue their development with us in the Academy.”

Director of Academy and Development, Carl Hogg, knows how important it is to keep a consistent core of players together within the Academy.

“It’s great that these three have decided to continue their journey with Gloucester Rugby. It is vital for us as an Academy to keep a connection within the group and to keep a group that have come up together, united.

“We want the bedrock of our senior team to be made from homegrown players, so it is great that we have such a strong group coming up through the ranks ready to push on.”
