Tatyana Heard says half-time pep talk inspired comeback at Richmond
Centre Tatyana Heard was part of the Gloucester-Hartpury side that battled out a 26-26 draw at Richmond Ladies on Sunday in the Tyrrells Premier 15s, and told Lucy Lomax of womensrugbymedia after the game that a half-time regroup had been needed.

Tatyana was playing before linking up with England Women this week as they prepare to take on Ireland in the Six Nations.

Gloucester-Hartpury got an ideal start at the Athletic Ground as they scored early on, but three tries from Richmond left Susie Appleby’s side trailing 21-5 at the interval before a second half comeback secured the draw.

Tatyana admitted to Lucy:

“It was a really tough game. We knew that they would bring it to us, and they did. We didn’t really perform in the first half and we’ll have to improve in the games coming up later in the season.

“At half-time, we knew that we just had to step up our game really, we weren’t very urgent in the first half and knew what we had to do in the second half. Thankfully, we did that.”

And on the prospect of her first Six Nations as part of the Red Roses squad.

“It’s really exciting, I didn’t expect it (selection) at all so it came as quite a shock. Now it’s sunk in a bit, I can’t wait for everything coming up in the future.

“It’s a really good opportunity for us to all gel as a team. We’ve done a lot of training together as a team, it’s all gone really well and we’re all excited about kicking off against Ireland on Friday.”
