Three changes for Gloucester-Hartpury for trip to Loughborough Lightning

Three changes for Gloucester-Hartpury for trip to Loughborough Lightning
Head Coach Susie Appleby makes three changes to the starting line-up as Gloucester-Hartpury travel to Loughborough Lightning for Saturday’s round 12 Tyrrells Premier 15s match.

There are two changes in the back line and one in the pack, as fifth-placed Gloucester-Hartpury look to close the gap on third-placed Loughborough Lightning, and try to avenge the last minute penalty try defeat in round four when the Lightning won 40-41.

The changes see Mary-Ann Gittings come in for Dyddgu Hywel at full-back, and Hannah Jones comes in to partner Millie Wood in the Gloucester-Hartpury midfield. Up front, Welsh international Cerys Hale returns in the second row.

Head Coach Appleby explained the changes and discussed the challenge that Loughborough will bring.

“We’ve been really pleased with our last couple of games, we are showing more consistency in our performances and, especially against Bristol, proved we can be ruthless when it matters.

“Going away to Loughborough is going to be a very different challenge for us this weekend as they will be desperate to make amends for a poor performance away at Quins. They are an extremely physical and very tactically astute side with great leaders in Katy McLean and Sarah Hunter ,and we will need to be at our best to have a chance.

“When Loughborough came to Hartpury we had a really close game and we expect exactly the same on Saturday.

“Tatyana Heard picked up an injury last Saturday which allows Hannah Jones an opportunity to start, Hannah is a world class player who adds pace and physicality to our exciting back line.

“Mary-Ann has been training well and making a real impact off the bench so deserves her start.

“Cerys Hale impressed for the A team last week so also deserves her opportunity. It’s hugely competitive at the club in every position, and having game changers on your bench like Heather Fisher, Kelsey Jones and Beth Lewis shows what a great place the club is in. we can’t wait to get out there and play.”
