Under 18s team named for derby clash with Bath this Saturday
Gloucester Rugby Under 18s are back in action this weekend, kicking off the New Year with a clash against the also unbeaten Bath Rugby Under 18s at Hartpury (KO 12pm)

After bonus point wins over their Saracens and Bristol Bears counterparts, the young Cherry and Whites take on a Bath side fresh from a strong victory over Exeter Braves at the end of December.

The squad is a settled one, with two players moving up into the Premiership Rugby Shield squad, with the target of developing their own performances, allowing more players the opportunity to impress in the Cherry and White jersey.

Brooke Turner, Oli Parmer and Max Fletcher continue in a pacey back three, whilst Isaac Marsh and Louis Hilman-Cooper form a settled midfield duo.

England U18 international pivot George Barton comes in, and links up with Steve Varney at half back.

Up front Harry Fry, Ethan Hunt and Jenson Boughton team up, and they’re backed up in the second row Archie Benson and Harry Taylor. There is an exciting young back row trio made up of captain Joe Howard, Josh Gray and Jack Clement.

Junior Academy Manager Alex Guest commented that this was an exciting test against quality opposition.

“The local derby element of the game is an exciting one for our squad, and a really tough test against a really sharp Bath Rugby team, who formed the majority of the Beechen Cliff AASE Final squad.

“We’re anticipating a fast, open game this weekend, and we want to continue our strong start to the campaign. It’s a home fixture, and this is a chance to develop our performances as a team, and for every individual involved.”
